HiiI am facing problems in connecting Fire alarm controlunit MXL MMB 2 panel to my PC. Actually i have connected the RS-232 serial port to my pc and RJ-45 to MXL panel.whenever i am trying to connect to panel through CSGM software it gives me ERRROR-7 , but this problem is present in 1 only central. In the second central the connect is functionally whit my pc. The communication between central 1 and central 2 is ok.I am using Windows XP on my PC , whether i should use Windows 98 to connect ?or is there any other solution to it.Thanks

Other than the local MXL distributor, where else can I get CSGM Software and CONNECTOR (between laptop and fire panel)? What kind of connector would that be? Is there anything else I need to be able to access programming of the panel?Please help.

Hi Dan,thanks for your reply I have the cgsm software on a win 98 laptop running in dos and was looking for the cable or pinouts for the cable to connect to the rj11 port on the mxl panel.

Greg,the Siemens CSGM software connects through a device called an XND. This is not a USB to Serial Converter but rather has a DOS Serial driver needed for the CSGM Program to work. The driver doesn\'t ship with the Windows XP software which is why they have the XND.If your trying to connect to the printer port that\'s a different story. You can do this using Hyper Terminal provided that configuration file in the MXL is setup for a printer port.This however won\'t provide access to the CSGM Software.Considering this was originally posted in May of this year, I\'ll assume you\'ve gotten the information you were looking for.
